I’d never really thought about it but I’d agree with all that. I think it’s just enough description to get the reader to place themselves at the scene then move on with the story.
Yes, any less than that and it’s somehow unsatisfying, any more and it drags me out of the story. Hard balance to strike, often only found after the nth edit!
