The Night Rainbow Launch
On 13th February, the eve of the official publication day for The Night Rainbow, we celebrated with drinks at Daunt Books in Marylebone.
So many friends came over to take part, travelling from across the UK and abroad. Even my best friend from school came, who now lives in Tenerife and who I hadn’t seen in over 20 years, as well as friends I made in my various past jobs, from university, from here in France, fellow Bloomsbury authors and even about 25 friends who I had met on Twitter friends in the last few years, (and who I discovered were just as lovely in real life). The room was packed and alive with conversation and good cheer. It was such a fantastic evening.
The team from Bloomsbury who have been working on The Night Rainbow came along too of course, and my editor Helen made a wonderful, generous and heartfelt speech.
I was quite overwhelmed by the turnout, and spent my entire evening in a scrum of lovely people, exchanging a few greetings and signing books. As expected there wasn’t nearly enough time.
I didn’t take a single photo, but thankfully many others did. Here are some taken by my husband, and I will link to some others shortly…
Many thanks to Bloomsbury and to Daunt for hosting.
Thank you to everyone who came, and made the evening what it was – happy, fun and buzzing.
We drank regional wines from the area where The Night Rainbow is set, and from the year the book was finished (2010) but were also lucky to have a tasting table of regional wines donated by the Maison de la Région Languedoc Roussillon – Un grand merci à eux!
The French themed canapés were laid on by my lovely friend Kelvin – Thank you!
And thank you everyone who bought books on the night – almost 150 books were sold and I think I signed most of them!
